The blue-grey gnatcatcher is one of the smallest birds we get in at the facility, rivaled only by hummingbirds. They have trouble eating the mealworms we give them, especially when they're younger, so we often use tiny ones or cut them in half. They're very independant despite this, and often learn to feed themselves while very young, which is more common in smaller birds. It's nice in this case, as they're so small they can be challenging to feed without accidentally water boarding them in the process.
